A number of our lawyers took part in the Lord Chancellor’s Training Scheme for Young Chinese Lawyers. This Scheme, which ran for 20 years, was funded by the Lord Chancellor of Great Britain and the Chinese Ministry of Justice. Entry was very competitive and candidates applied from all over China. Every year no more than 15 young Chinese lawyers were selected to go to England. They were given academic training in common law at SOAS, University of London. They then spent several months as interns both in the offices of top firms of solicitors and in barristers’ chambers. As a result， they are familiar with common law principles, and the workings of English solicitors and barristers, and have developed excellent connections with many English lawyers.
